The World of ArenaAntics
ArenaAntics takes place after the world has ended though global warming and the fallout of a devastating war. With the rising of ocean levels, the earth is now mostly water dotted with many large islands that aren't connected much at all, these islands are vast distances apart from each other which makes connection and communication between islands difficult. Because of this vast distance, islands tend to be at different technological levels and have created vastly different cultures from the survivors that sprung up after the end of the war.
Some islands based their new cultures on pop culture artifacts from the old world. (For example, the western themed Goldfang Island has based their entire culture on old cowboy movies since that's what they pulled from the rubble of the old world).
Souls
In the world of ArenaAntics, souls are real things that people possess, and they are a form of energy. Some people in the world are born with the ability to see souls, and can interact with them.
The Grim Reaper is also a real supernatural force of nature and has servants who go around to collect the souls of the dead and bring them to the afterlife.
One person, Ma, has studied souls, making this supernatural form of energy into a science, and a form of energy that can be manipulated. Throughout her time studying souls, she has created various robots that use a piece of her own soul as a power source and as the basis for their own consciousness. Some of these robots include BEL, DEL, and DeeJay.
Tone
ArenaAntics has an unserious tone with a rule-of-cool approach to things. Soul Eater is a good reference point.
- Rule-of-cool, things don't necessarily need to make sense 100% of the time as long as they fit the world and the tone.

Character Archetypes
Archetypes in fighting games are ways to categorize different characters and their playstyles. In ArenaAntics, some archetypes you might see include All-Rounders, Rushdowns, Grapplers, Glass Cannons, or Hit & Run type characters. All these types of characters play in different ways, have different goals or win conditions, and require different strategies to take down.
Different Game Plans
It's important to build up, and maintain momentum during a battle, sitting still makes you an easy target... Unless of course, that's what you want. Some characters, like the Hit & Run type characters, shine by dashing around their opponents at high speed, getting in and out with quick attacks, slowly whittling down their opponents health, while other characters, like Grappler types, might wait for their opponents to attack and then grab them in a counter-attack for big damage.
Gameplay Features
Movement
Momentum and speed are a big part of the gameplay of ArenaAntics, and requires players to make quick decisions as they dash around their opponents.
Lock On
The lock-on mechanic allows the player to lock on to an opponent. This locks the player's camera to the opponent and makes moving towards the opponent simple even while both players are moving very quickly across the environment.
Combat
Combat in ArenaAntics centres around attacks, blocks, and grabs. These 3 things are the most basic building blocks of combat. A block will stop an attack, though a player can be grabbed even while blocking.
Normal Moves
Normal moves are simple moves that are split into two groups, Heavy Attacks and Light Attacks.
